Shalini Mahajan

Dr. Shalini Mahajan is a triple board-certified neurologist and one of the few specialists in the Los Angeles region with advanced training and expertise in three highly specialized fields: neuromuscular medicine, electrodiagnostic medicine, and neuromuscular pathology.

Dr. Mahajan earned her medical degree from the University of Delhi and completed her residency in Neurology at the University of Southern California. She subsequently completed two highly specialized fellowships: one at University of Southern California focused on neuromuscular medicine and pathology, and another at University of California, Los Angeles focused on neuro-electrodiagnostics and genetics. She is board certified in Neurology and Neuromuscular Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and in Clinical Neuromuscular Pathology by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. Dr. Mahajan has performed and interpreted muscle and nerve biopsies and has extensive experience evaluating patients with complex autoimmune neuromuscular disorders. With her multidisciplinary training, she is able to uniquely integrate cutting-edge genetic diagnostic techniques with muscle pathology and advanced laboratory sciences into her clinical management.

Dr. Mahajan is also actively involved in academic medicine, education, and research. She has published in the field of neuromuscular medicine and has lectured to physicians, medical trainees, and patients. She is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the World Muscle Society.

• Myositis associated with lupus and other systemic autoimmune disorders
• Peripheral neuropathies, including autoimmune neuropathies
• Myasthenia gravis
• Motor neuron diseases, including ALS
